What’s Next for LBA?

Dear Twinsider,

Since the release of Twinsen’s Quest, one question keeps coming up: Is the LBA2 Remake confirmed?

Before diving into that, let’s take a step back.

After a challenging start, we partnered with Microids in October 2023. The plan was clear: LBA1 Remake, followed by LBA2 Remake, and eventually, LBA3

A First Analysis

LBA lives! It wasn’t easy, but we did it—a new LBA game is out on PC and consoles! With 90% positive reviews on Steam and sales progressing as planned, the release has been positive despite the need of a patch.

This game was built in just 15 months on Unity—starting completely fresh after discarding all previous work—by a small but dedicated core team. We made plenty of mistakes—but we made it.

A massive thank you to everyone who worked on the game. Special thanks to the Microids team for making this dream a reality, and to you, the community, for your incredible support.

What’s Next?

Our next priority is understanding what worked well in LBA – Twinsen’s Quest and what we can improve. While we’re thrilled the reviews on Steam, most of you played on consoles—so we need your input!

We also want to know your expectations for the LBA2 Remake.

Finally, as a community, we heard your recurring request to be more engaged on the creation process. More importantly many of you also expressed their desire to have more LBA “perks” with even more special editions this time (think Dinofly Plushes, more skins, your name in the game, etc.).

What about LBA2?

As of today, the game is not yet signed with Microids or any other publisher. We’re exploring all options—including self-publishing. But here’s the exciting news: we’ve already started working on it!

Want to be part of the journey?

I’m looking for 100 community members to have a direct 1-1 conversation with me (in English or French) to help us shape our future. If you’re interested, fill out the form below!

By the way, we’ll be updating the LBA2 Remake Steam page soon (name, screenshot, etc…), but you can already add the game to your wishlist!

Ben

  1. I’m so happy and thrilled to hear that LBA2 is in the works.

LBA remake was awesome and fun to play. It was the same game in the core but the new art style, new dialogues and some tweaks in the gameplay really made the difference. Can’t wait to see more of LBA2 in near future.

Great job to all 2.21 crew. 🙂

  2. I’m very happy for you guys! I’m literally crying tears of joy that LBA2 is in development) You have excellent ratings on all platforms, but you need a big advertising campaign to attract players!

  3. LBA2 was my childhood. When I got the chance to play the first one it was too dated for me, so never played it for more than an hour. Bought the remake day 1 to show my appreciation and love for the franchise. Played for just a few minutes, but I think you are on the right path. Streamlining movement and combat is what the old games need and you seem to have nailed it. I love the updates visuals too, very sharp and easy on the GPU. Keep it up!

  4. Guys, this is such great news.

I played the original LBA 2 game in 1997, and now just a couple of months ago I learned about LBA 1 remake (I never beat the original game).

My 6-year-old daughter got really interested in your game, and we completed it in one breath. She asked me every evening to play Twinsen and find Luna, and when the credits rolled she was so sad and couldn’t believe the game was over. 🙁 Now she’s still asking me if you are going to release the sequel!

In addition to being an avid fan and 100% backer of the remake, I’m a hobbyist dev myself, but also have experience in advertising and consulting for founders, including gamedev.

My email is sharyphil@gmail.com , I’ve already sent you an application.

    On peut aussi parler français.

    Merci et bonne chance!

    Phil

  5. Guys, maybe you need financial help? We could open a Kickstarter for the development of LBA2 and LBA3) Loyal fans, including me, would finance it)

  6. A Kickstarter would be best and so would have been a Collector’s Edition of the first game’s remake. That Patreon email/survey you sent me was abysmal, I will not be paying monthly for such a thing in any shape or form. Not for LBA or any game franchise.
