Meet Luna

Dear community,

It’s time to reveal a little more about the remake. As you saw in the trailer, one of the new features is the introduction of Luna, Twinsen’s spunky little sister! 💜

This purple-haired rebel keeps Boingball alive under the dictatorship’s nose. Small but mighty, she’s on a mission to become Citadel Island’s champion!

How do you feel about her? Share your thoughts in the comments.

  1. Looks very fun! But, of course, now I want to know more about Twinsen’s and Luna’s parents as well. And how come the big age difference? What are the ages of Twinsen and Luna?

  2. Really no need to introduce any new characters , the story and characters were Already amazing . Im really not a fan of the art style of changing or adding characters in general

    1. I really hate the idea of a sister, it’s not necessary for the original story, and in fact it would be more complicated to explain the prophecy and that Dr. Funfrock, for example, doesn’t just kidnap children or the wife… It doesn’t make sense.

  3. I totally understand where you’re going (and coming from) with this change in the story, and I don’t really mind it! I assume then that Zoe will also get a slightly bigger role in this game, rather than the “damsel in distress” – which totally is an old cliche, albeit there’s nothing bad with it either imo.

It’ll be interesting to see just how far you’re going to take this. My only fear would be that Luna gets a much bigger role and will become as obnoxious and unlikable as Leia was in the Obi-Wan TV-series, but considering what she’ll be locked up throughout the game – unless you make drastic changes to how the plot unfolds – there shouldn’t be any risk of that happening!

    1. I haven’t played the first game in years. Why was Zoe even captured again? Was Twinsen engaged to her at that point? If not, its kind of random. Would you be even bothered to go to the other end of the world for somebody you were going out with for a week lol?

The sister thing does make more sense and why Twinsen would be willing to do anything to get her back.

      1. Zoe was captured because Twinsen escaped and the groboclones went to their house to find him. She gave him time to hide and was taken prisoner, instead.

They already lived together in their own house. They were already a couple, not just dating. Of course, they would do anything for each other.

  4. When going for a sister, that creates the question of: “what happened with Zoe?”

For me the love interest was always a nice element of the game, and I hope it still has some role in this remake (which can be different than the old role, which mostly gets filled by Luna now).

Maybe she could be one of the “mutants” or “rebels”, or something else like that which would tie in there story much more strongly.
    (Just my 2 cents)

    1. In the trailer, Luna is seen being taken away by Funfronck’s elepho-clones instead of Zoe once Twinsen returns home after his escape. While Zoe is shown reuniting with Twinsen on Rebellion Island.
I assume that Chloe must have joined the rebellion after Twinsen was imprisoned. Or even more so, perhaps Zoe is one of the leaders of the rebellion alongside, or instead of, Colonel Kroptman.

  5. I like Luna, I think it allows for more depth in exploring Zoe, Twinsen’s wife, without portraying her as the typical damsel in distress. I think they made a good decision, although I understand it might be hard for many fans to accept the changes. I believe this is a smart change.

    1. Indeed, with Luna being the one kidnapped in the early game and Zoe appearing later, it seems that with these changes we’ll get to see how Twinsen meets Zoe and why do they end up together.

    1. Nothing do add, agree with you.
I am also concerned about the second episode. The risk is that to please the new trends will see Luna as the main character.
There’re killing one of the best game in history.

        1. I am so glad you are saying this. Not because I ever thought it WOULD be anything else, but I can understand why people these days are worried about changes to classics they love. Actually addressing their fears is probably the best way to get people onboard with the changes.

    2. What are you talking about?! The old game still exists both in the original release and the remaster (which adds only some quality of life features). If you hate change so much go play those instead… It’s a REMAKE; some things are going to be different from the original *and that’s fine*. Otherwise there would be no point in making a new one.

    3. This is a ridiculous comment when the original still exists and there’s no reason a remake shouldn’t change some things. Else what is the point of a remake.

btw: no idea why my previous comments were deleted when all I was doing was being supportive of the game and (respectfully) debating some of the more bizarre comments in this thread. I approve of the direction of the game, but can’t say the same for your moderation choices…

  6. I know I’m thinking waaay ahead, but if we got Luna in LBA1, then she’ll be kidnapped in LBA2 which only raises the stakes! I love it.
Also, Zoe switching from damsel in distress to head of the resistance makes lots of sense.
The only open question now was also asked in the comments: what’s the deal with Twinsen’s family? Are his parents alive? If not, what happened to them? Who were they, anyways? Also, I always thought of Twinsen as an (young-ish) adult, but Luna looks like a little girl. Is Twinsen’s age adjusting too?
I’m waaay too excited about all of this, I just can’t wait for the release!

    1. “Zoe switching from damsel in distress to head of the resistance makes lots of sense.”

      That makes absolutely no sense.

    2. This, this here is a real comment! Luna been kidnapped in LBA2 gives more sense to Twinsen’s adventure to save her sister and then later finding out the big plot, also gives another layer of hate to FunFrock xD

  7. I really, really, really don’t like this idea. I think adding a new character related to Twinsen is wrong and damages the story.

Why does it look like she is being escorted away by the Groboclones instead of Zoe?

Why do this? The story was great. I can see unifying LBA1 and LBA2 and expanding the world of Twinsun, adding new locations, new characters and enriching what was already there (*not* taking away!) but I strongly object to you messing with the main story.

I was excited for this game and I would pay any price to support this series. LBA1 and LBA2 stand as two of the greatest games ever. I would hope that supporting your remake might lead to LBA3 but if you’re going to destroy the story, I don’t want any part of this.

  8. I like this changes! And as I’ve seen in the trailer, I’m in love with the idea of Zoe having more role than just a “damsel in distress”, I love Twinsen, but I’m more in love with games than make the female characters have important roles! Thank you! And I adore Luna!

  9. Are we going to get artwork and renders of characters and stuff? The original game had some hilarious art. The one with Twinsen in the bed with Zoe and her pregnant and the big grin on his face makes me laugh to this day and I send it on to anyone I know that is having a baby (only 1% know what LBA is though) lol.

  10. I think the addition of Luna to the story could create great plot points if done mindfully, and have the potential of expanding Zoe’s character in ways that weren’t able before.

I do fear such additions not being made with care IN CASE the remake completely erases the original experience from the store fronts (steam). As long as I can go back to the original experience I do not condone changes, and incentive them IF, as previously stated, they are done with care.

  11. Changing 30 year old game lore, that couldn’t possibly piss off fans could it… oh…. wait…..

Wouldn’t it have been better to just create a brand new I.P. than destroy the history of the current one?

  12. I love the addition of Luna. A child being the “damsel in distress” is a much better pick than an adult, and also her being taken away without a fight makes much more sense. This also allows for Zoé to be much a better explored character, as some here pointed out. (Her friendship with Baldino and their connections to the resistance could be explored/added to great effect, too!)

Just keep the game as lighthearted as the original, and you’ll be in the right track. Luna feels like a great character, and she does seem to fit the spirit of Twinsun.

Keep up the great work. <3

  13. I agree entirely with this also…

“Really no need to introduce any new characters , the story and characters were Already amazing . Im really not a fan of the art style of changing or adding characters in general”

Ruins the whole lba authenticity and feel, what drew most people to love lba, your making it a different experience, not a remake. Offputting and loosing interest in the project because of it.

  14. What was the point of dropping the “damsel in distress” trope, only to fall into the even worse “strong and independent” one?

  15. While I am still somewhat excited about the project, I have to admit a change to the main story as big as this makes the game go from an “instant buy” to a “wait and see” approach for me.
I hope you can pull this change off well and that you end up creating something brilliant, but I have seen far, far too many of my beloved franchises go down due to making changes to established story to not view this with a cynical lens.

I wish you the best of luck, and hey even if this ends up not being to my tastes, I’ll always have the original.

  16. Her inclusion depends if she is in addition to, or a replacement for Twinsen’s girlfriend Zoe. If Zoe is still in there, than you can expand the story, as long as it doesn’t take away from the original!

  17. I liked the Idea.
I think I saw that Zoe will be introduced with the Rebels, is t hat right?
Will they meet for the first time? That’s even better. Seeing their relationship grow will be much more captivating.

  18. The original story is laconic in its essence.
Why make new entities. What is Zoe’s role, she wasn’t stolen then, will we have to travel with her?
I’ll have to explain a lot about my sister. Besides, the character herself confuses me. There are all the prerequisites for Luna to become Scrappy-Doo 2.0. And no one liked Scooby’s little relative.
